Highlands Ranch Honey started with an impulse buy at Costco.
Eight years ago, my husband went in for a jug of milk and came out with a beehive. He'd spotted them for sale and was instantly transported back to his grandparents' home in the Russian countryside, where bees hummed among the flowers and fresh honey graced the table. Without consulting his wife (yes, really), he bought that first hive and signed up for the next local beekeeping class.
What began as a spontaneous decision rooted in nostalgia has become our family's passion and livelihood.
Those early years were full of trial and error, countless YouTube videos at midnight, and the invaluable wisdom of local beekeeping groups who patiently answered our endless questions. We learned what the bees needed to thrive, and slowly but surely, we figured out how to keep them happy and healthy.
Today, we manage over 35 hives across Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock, producing more than 100 gallons of raw, unfiltered honey each year. Our honey has won "Best Tasting Honey" at the Parker Honey Festival two years running—an honor that makes us incredibly proud.
But our biggest source of pride? Our bees themselves. Everything we do centers around their wellbeing. We take care of them, and in return, they give us the most incredible honey imaginable—pure, natural, and bursting with the flavors of Colorado.
This has truly become a family affair. Ask our daughter what she does, and she'll proudly tell you, "I'm a beekeeper!" Knowing that we're connecting her to her great-grandparents' heritage while teaching her to care for these amazing creatures makes this work extra sweet.
Thank you for supporting our family and our bees. Every jar of honey helps us continue this journey we love.
